Stacked │ NEX-7 + Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E24mm F1.8 ZA │ 24mm F5.6 1/200s ISO100Thank heavens I had an autofocus lens to take these photos. I didn't want to put anymore strain on the ice than necessary; the creaking sounds didn't inspire me to take that risk (the NEX-7 is still very new). So I had to hold the camera at arms length to get most of these photos. I could make out the composition, but fiddling with a manual focus lens would have been awkward to say the least. So it was a relief to just move the little focus point to where I needed it and let the lens do the rest.

The first photo is my favorite, not necessarily because it's graphically the strongest , but because it gives a clue how these strangely beautiful compositions were formed.

Hi Djordje,
I guess braving the elements paid off. An abstract photo removes the context, so I'm no longer sure that it was such a good idea to include the last photo in the set. It plunges the viewer back into reality.
