Couple on Red │ NEX-7 + Sony E50mm F1.8 OSS │ 50mm F3.2 1/500s ISO100These photos have little in common, other than a dominant color. In a sense, they're naturally occurring “selective color” images. I much prefer finding “monochromatic” scenes instead of subjecting photos to the invasive surgery of removing certain colors during post processing. The latter approach can kill the patient with a very artificial looking result.
Images with a singular, dominant color are worth looking for; they tend to hang together better than a photo with various competing colors. That's often what you end up with in an urban setting where colors are arbitrary or chosen for visibility. Depending on the clothes, vehicles and signage present in a scene you can end up with a jarring mix that will make even a color aficionado flee to black & white. Amongst all the color mayhem, you need a bit of luck to find some harmony.
