Great! "Interference" is my fav. You liking the Sony? I eyed a GH2 the other day, but am still happy with the XZ-1. No reason to buy anything new at the moment, but it looks like Olympus is in real trouble so I'm at least looking again at what the competition has. The Fuji X10 looks ok, but I think I still prefer the XZ-1.

Added some freshly edited Mexico images from the XZ-1 to my site: HERE

Hi there, Skip. You really know how to put together a gallery where the sum is equal to the parts; it's not just a collection of individual images, but the colors and style really work well together. You've inspired me to have another look at my neglected galleries.

I'm really liking the Sony. But I knew there was a good chance of that as I used its predecessor (a NEX-3) for 2 months in the summer. The NEX-5 really excels when mated with something better than the Sony lenses; something I just managed to do yesterday when I acquired a Zeiss Biogon 35/2.0 (manual focus & aperture control). Hard to take photos in this perpetual North Sea fog though.

Nobody knows what will happen with Olympus. At the least, they'll be distracted from the business at hand for a while. The Fuji X10 is an interesting camera, although at 350g it's starting to get into mirrorless territory. When I need a super compact camera for an outing, I do away with the flexibility of having various focal lengths and head out with the NEX-5N and the 16/2.8 pancake which actually weighs less than the X10.

Personally, I'm also not a fan of wrapping 21st century technology in a veneer of Leica. I much prefer the clean, industrial look of a camera like the XZ-1, however unimportant that fact may be when you're out taking photos.

I haven't really seen anything that caught my eye lately to be honest. Took a look at the Nikon V1, but really don't want to carry lenses. I think for now the XZ-1 will suit me fine unless Pana does something spectacular with the LX series.

Just added a new gallery of XZ-1 imaged from my recent Washington, D.C. and NYC trip HERE

I haven't tweaked the order yet... figured I'd wait until I finish editing those before I bother.

Great gallery as usual, Skip; I've commented on your site.

I get your reluctance to carry and switch lenses back and forth. And unless you need a really fast AF, the Nikon 1 system seems relatively pointless. It has a sensor which is half the area of the one in the Micro Four Thirds cameras, yet the Nikon bodies aren't smaller, nor are the lenses more compact and/or brighter. But give me a truly compact LX with a fast, integrated zoom and a similar sized sensor, and even I would rethink my strategy. I hate traveling with a lot of stuff.

Are there any situations where you feel the XZ-1 isn't meeting your needs?

Thanks!

Situations the XZ-1 doesn't meet my needs... hmmmm.... good question. There are a few things that could be improved with a firmware update, but I can't think of a situation off the top of my head that the XZ-1 doesn't meet my needs. I'm sure I'll think of one, but nothing glaring at the moment.

I hate to say it, but the XZ-1 sounds like a pretty good fit. So the question remains what to put under the tree this year ;-)

I've really learned to not desire stuff so much... makes it easier to live, but also makes it tough to come up with stuff for under the tree. ;) I really don't want anything... other than maybe a jet pack or my own communications satellite. Or maybe my art art gallery/museum to curate myself with all my favorite art... and designed by you! :)

I'll tell you what: if one of us starving artists ever strikes it rich, we can set your gallery plan into motion ;-)
