Men at Work

Men at Work │ GF1 + Lumix 20mm F1.7 │ 20mm F1.7 1/125s ISO125This is sort of a self portrait, taken during a lull at an assignment photographing a corporate event last night. A good friend of mine loaned me his expensive D700 (imagine that!) for the event but I was also experimenting with my diminutive GF1; talk about David and Goliath. Of course the mighty Nikon is a more capable performer, but Micro Four Thirds shows promise. Face detection autofocus and exposure is excellent in sorting out difficult – and constantly changing – conditions with clothes that vary from white to black and backgrounds with a similar amount of variability. Once the camera detects a face it really works, resulting in perfect exposures and focus. But there has to be a reasonable amount of light. Otherwise the task was best left to the mighty Nikon with its blazing speed and superb high ISO image quality.
