XXX │ GF1 + Konica Hexanon AR 135mm F3.2 │ 135mm F5.6 1/1250s ISO100Although it's quite an ungainly combination, I shot with the rather large Konica Hexanon 135mm F3.2 lens on my GF1 today. On the GF1 it has an equivalent focal length of 270mm and can only be manually focused. It's not sharp at F3.2 but it gets quite good stopped down to F5.6. It's long focal length makes it suitable for capturing collages like the one above; you can easily eliminate any distracting background. It also compresses distance, making the ferry and the cruise ship in the shot below appear so much nearer to the passengers waiting for their “water bus” in the foreground. It's more dramatic than in reality. The Hexanon lens is fun for occasional shooting, but for such a long lens I prefer the flexibility of a zoom. Autofocus is also a welcome convenience.

I was wondering if you used the EVF to focus this image... if so, how easy is it to use?
Hi Rob, no I don't have the GF1's EVF so I had to use the rear screen. This is not an optimal solution for manual focusing and I much prefer the integrated, high resolution EVF of the G1/2/H1/H2. It's not only challenging to manually focus with the camera held out in front of your face, but also difficult to see the screen well enough to know when your subject is in focus if there's any glare.
